Hail Tips

Were you affected by a Hail Storm?

Check out these tips...

Contact your Insurance Company as soon as possible! Homeowners only have 1 to 12 months to report Hail Damage.

-Waiting too long to file a claim could be used by your insurance company as                   grounds to prove that you are not in compliance with a condition in your homeowners       insurance policy, giving them the right to deny your claim for coverage. You must             keep in mind that your insurance carrier is a "For Profit Business" and they will try to         avoid paying a claim.

Resist the Urge to Conduct an Inspection yourself, it can be dangerous.

-Some daring homeowners may be tempted to climb onto the roof and look for signs of        damage themselves. Your insurance adjuster can tell if you have enough hail damage          to justify a new roof.

Make sure you receive a fair evaluation for your loss.

-Countrywide workers are insurance claim specialists. We can help you get a fair                adjustment for your claim as well as ensure that nothing is overlooked by the                      adjuster. Give us a call before your roof inspection with your adjuster and we will meet        them to inspect your roof together.

Ask for Proof of Insurance and State Contractor's License.

-Roofing companies should be properly insured with General Liability and Workman's          Comp. Request to see a Certificate of Insurance to verify. Homeowner's can search on        the LSLBC to make sure their contractor is state licensed.

Know the Law about your Insurance Deductible.

-It is illegal for a roofing company to waive your deductible or give you a discount on          your deductible for placing advertising on your property in return. It is the                          homeowner's responsibility to pay their deductible. RS 37:2175.3
